Griptape Backbone is a relaxing meditative first-person vaporwave skateboarding game that discusses topics such as sexuality, religion, and existentialist literature. The game uses liminal mechanics to blend both the real world and virtual together through notes left on your actual desktop to websites and an interface that already knows your name. Solo passion project that teaches existentialism. Skate anywhere in an aesthetic purgatory.
Created large vaporwave inspired skatepark map with scripted NPC quests, 4000+ collectables, and easter eggs. Art was inspired by the vaporwave music genre's aesthetics, consumer culture, 80s malls, and existentialist literature.
Wrote an in-game fake OS that would break the 4th wall with the player’s actual desktop and applications using liminal mechanics for both comedic and personal moments
Remotely coordinated a 47-song soundtrack with over 25 vaporwave musical artists
